Who gives a Crap? Pardon my French, but that IS the question…
When our Consulting Engineer, Geraldine started talking about a rather risqué sounding toilet paper that was here to save the planet, we thought she was loo-py... but as the flush left our cheeks, we realised she might be on to something.
A loo paper that is soft, strong, cost effective, environmentally friendly, would give us a giggle in the office AND was literally saving lives with every purchase… we had to get to the bottom of this!
Who Gives a Crap (WGAC) started in 2012 when three Aussie blokes stumbled across the stats that approximately 40% of the world’s population don’t have access to toilet facilities... all toilet humour aside, in terms of hygiene and disease, this is no laughing matter. “Around 289,000 children under five die every year from diarrhoeal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation. That's almost 800 children per day, or one child every two minutes”.
WGAC decided to do something about this and to date, have donated in excess of $1.8 million to charity to install new sanitary toilet facilities in third world countries across the globe.
Below are reasons why WCAG is our new favourite TP:
At 25c per hundred sheets, they are cheaper/on par with toilet paper from the grocery store
They are an Australian company
They donate 50% of their profits to non-for-profit organisations to build toilets overseas such as WaterAid, Sanergy, Shining Hope for Communities and Lwala Community Alliance
They have free shipping and deliver in bulk
They don’t use plastic, instead individually wrapping each roll in eco friendly paper
They have a new range of paper wrappings that feature black and white ‘colouring in’ ready designs!… (who doesn’t like to colour?)
Why not give it a try in your home or office and be part of the cause! It’s such a simple change, that could mean so much to others less fortunate than us!
